November 8th
Puna Lions attended a District 50 cabinet meeting at KTA from 8:30 am to noon. It's always good to know what our parent organization is up to.

November 9th
Puna Lions held our monthly Food Collection Drive at Long’s Drugs in Pahoa. It's from 9 am till 1 pm and on the second Sunday of the month. We average about $100 cash and about 100 lbs. of food per collection.

November 10th
Puna Lions supported the vision screening at Ha’aheo Elementary School. Located on the Hamakua Coast, this school has an awesome ocean view. 59 students were screened with 5 referrals to the optometrist to see if they need glasses.

November 16th
Puna Lions held their regular meeting from 4 to 5 pm at Lion Karl and Lion Nancy’s office in downtown Pahoa. We lost our usual meeting place at the community center due to the county taking it over as the lava response center.

November 18th
Puna Lions supported the Kapliolani School Vision screening. 148 students were screened with nine referrals to the optometrist!

East Hawaii Lions are ready for students. One Lion overheard the kids waiting in line to be screened say, "I heard that this is worse than getting a tooth pulled"!

November 25th
Puna Lions took the plusoptiX S12R training at the Workplace Center from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. We're training for a new way of vision screening the students. This technique uses a camera that takes a picture of the eye and determines if they need a referral to an optometrist.

November 29th
Puna Lions came out in force to clean the highway in Pahoa despite heavy rain showers.
